The B&R vision system delivers scalable and configurable functionality in a compact plug-and-play device. Simply hook the camera up to the machine network, and it automatically obtains all the settings it needs from the controller. Customize your camera to the needs of your application: from vision functions to focal length, illumination colors, filters and more.
The B&R Smart Sensor enables implementation of a single machine vision functionality, such as QR code reading or position detection. Unlike many other devices in its class, there is no need to install dedicated hardware for different functions. The desired Smart Sensor function is simply selected in the Automation Studio engineering tool. OEMs only have to stock a single camera type and are nevertheless able to support a wide range of applications. In cases where multiple functions are needed, the B&R Smart Camera enables flexible combinations of rule-based and AI vision functions in a single device.

Single-wire daisy chain image pocessing with fieldbus connection
A single-wire daisy chain connection enables fast cost-efficient wiring for B&R’s vision system. Cable lengths are minimized without requiring additional space in the control cabinet. During maintenance, there's no need for an additional trigger line.
The camera only needs one cable. An M12 hybrid connection integrates the camera into the machine network while ensuring a 24 VDC power supply. A second hybrid connection enables easy daisy chain wiring with the lighting system.
