Improve competitiveness

In a dynamic market landscape, making moves to stay competitive is non-negotiable. Robots redefine your advantage by delivering superior performance, quality and efficiency. Position your operation as a leader in the industry, ready to meet the challenges ahead.

Transforming robotics with a unified vision

Machine-Centric Robotics, open robot mechanics and open software platforms – these elements characterize B&R's global vision and provide new impetus for machine and plant engineering. With Machine-Centric Robotics, machines and robotics can be connected efficiently creating an integrated automation solution that increases performance and flexibility. The open delta mechanism opens up new possibilities to improve precision and mobility for particularly fast and precise movement sequences. Open software platforms allow close collaboration between machine manufacturers, integrators and end customers and create a dynamic environment that promotes innovation. Together, these concepts form the basis for automation that is not only efficient, but also future-proof and adaptable.

Machine-Centric Robotics

Machines and robotics collaborate seamlessly to improve performance and efficiency. Machine builders get their robots and machine control system from a single source. They need only one controller and one engineering system for development, diagnostics and maintenance. This lowers the threshold for those who want to implement robotics.

Machine-Centric Robotics

Open robot mechanics

Codian robot mechanics are synonymous with exceptional performance, boasting unparalleled IP69K hygienic design options and remarkable payload capabilities. These robots can be combined with motors from different manufacturers allowing them to be easily integrated into any machine and ensuring compatibility with the various control platforms.

SCARA robots: More speed, more precision, more possibilities in the smallest of spaces

With the new SCARA series, B&R is expanding its Codian portfolio with compact high-performance robots for pick-and-place, assembly, dosing and machine tending. The models in the Codian SR series offer four degrees of freedom, maximum repeat accuracy and seamlessly integration into B&R controllers as open hardware or with mapp Robotics. As a Machine-Centric Robotics (MCR) solution, they work in perfect synchronization with image processing, transport systems and motion control for faster commissioning, simplified engineering and maximum efficiency with minimum programming effort.

Speed and precision

The SCARA robots in the Codian SR series offer high-speed movements with four degrees of freedom – ideal for pick-and-place, dosing and assembly tasks. Their exceptional repeat accuracy ensures consistent quality even at the highest clock rates.

Compact and powerful

Thanks to their compact design, the SCARA models can be easily integrated where space is limited or offset to the side. They precisely and reliably move payloads from 3 to 65 kilograms in the tightest of spaces.

Clean and clever

Cleanroom-compatible versions enable high-performance handling with undisturbed air flow – ideal for critical applications in the semiconductor or pharmaceutical industry. The open design and seamless integration make it the smart choice for demanding environments.

Maximum integration, minimum complexity

SCARA robots from the Codian SR series can be seamlessly integrated into existing machine concepts – either as open mechanics or fully integrated into the B&R control platform. Preconfigured software modules, familiar programming languages and a consistent engineering workflow significantly reduce development time and interface costs. The result: Shorter time-to-market, less complexity and complete design freedom with maximum performance.

OEMs and system integrators

  • Easy integration: SCARA models as open robot mechanics or can be fully integrated into the machine control system, which reduces interfaces and simplifies engineering.
  • Time and cost savings: Plug-and-play solutions, ready-made software modules, simulation tools and standardized interfaces speed up development and commissioning.
  • Flexible design: A compact design enables installation even where space is limited or under special installation conditions (e.g. clean rooms).
  • Future-proof automation: Machine-Centric Robotics makes robots a fully integrated part of the machine – no separate systems, no duplicate engineering.
  • Accessible programming: No special robotics expertise required with programming in familiar languages such as Structured Text or C/C++.

Customers and users

  • Higher performance: High-speed movements with high repeat accuracy – ideal for applications with short cycle times.
  • High process reliability: Seamless synchronization with image processing and motion control ensures reliable results.
  • Versatility: Use in various industries for assembly and dosing as well as critical applications for pharmaceuticals or semiconductor production.
  • Optimum use of available space: Compact SCARA kinematics enable efficient handling solutions even in confined spaces.
  • Less risk of failure thanks to an integrated solution: An integrated system from a single source (hardware, software and service) reduces faults and simplifies maintenance.
